3 Reasons I Left the Classroom

When I told my high school teachers that I was going into education, they all told me, “Run!”. Whether it be under funding, lack of parental support, long hours, safety concerns, or any combination of these things. I thought I was going to be different! There was no way I would burn out!

Boy was I wrong.

While everything listed above did impact my decision to leave the classroom, there were three reasons that stood out for me.

image block #1: data-focused (not child-focused)

image block #2: changing laws – don’t say gay, now with gulf of america

image block #3: personal health reasons – received disability diagnosis in 2020 (was in pain prior) autoimmune so impacted by stress

All that being said, I am not opposed to returning to the classroom one day. But for now, I am happy to help parents and families help their children learn at home.
